Superman is going to speak his truth - so says a new promo DC Comics has released, in order to announce the next big development in Superman comics. That development will be Superman finally revealing his secret to the world: that Clark Kent and Superman are one and the same. It's a move that DC has explored before in both 1991 (Superman revealing his secret to Lois Lane) and 2015 (Lois revealing Superman's secret to the world via a newspaper article), but comic book retcons later reversed the latter reveal, returning Superman to a life of dual identities. However, Superman writer Brian Michael Bendis is about to put an end to that era. Here's what Bendis revealed about the milestone reveal taking place in Superman #18 on December 11th, during an interview with the New York Times. "On some level, this is what DC brought me here for. I didn’t want to stir things up right away. I had to earn my place." Some fans are understandably skeptical about this move, as comic book publishers are fairly notorious for introducing major status quo changes in order to drum up publicity and sales around property, only to eventually drop those big changes entirely, and revert back to the original state of affairs.
However, Bendis promises that this won't be the usual temporary switch tactic comics are known for: "I don’t do fake-out stories," Bendis said. "I did a story where Daredevil was outed — a different kind of outing — but that was his reality for 15 years... We wanted to do this because behind it is 1,000 brand-new Superman stories that have never been told." Bendis goes on to say that the change will also bring Superman to "the best version of himself," and that he and other DC writers Matt Fraction and Greg Rucka are already laying down hundreds of pages of story for this new era of Superman storyelling. January will also feature a two special issues of Superman that will show just how major this change is to the character and the larger DC Universe. "Everybody who’s ever been in contact with him is going to have a completely different perspective and reaction to this," says Bendis. "Some heroes are going to be thrilled, some heroes are going to be livid, some villains are going to change their ways." The final tease is how Superman revealing he is Clark Kent will affect the latter's employment status as a professional journalist. According to Bendis: "Excellent question," Bendis said. "And I promise you that is the first thing that Greg Rucka stormed up to me with when we started working on this."

Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam has been a long time coming, to say the least. The DC Comics anti-hero has long been teased for a cinematic debut with Johnson having been cast in the role years ago. Originally, the plan seemed to be having Black Adam square off with Zachary Levi's Shazam! but the studio ultimately elected to make a standalone Shazam! movie which merely referenced Johnson's character along the way. Now, though, there is finally a production start date for Johnson's Black Adam movie. In July of 2020, the DC Comics anti-hero will finally be brought to life. "The project has been with me for over 10 years," Johnson wrote on Twitter. "Production begins this July." Johnson tweeted out the news in response to an artist's photo. The artist, operating on Twitter as King's Letter, sculpted Johnson as Black Adam in 1/5 size, to such an impressive extent that it got the attention of the People's Champ for such an announcement.
"You're going to meet is you're going to meet a character who's going through a journey," Black Adam producer Hiram Garcia tells ComicBook.com. "He was created as a villain. And through the love of the fans and through some great writers and storytellers, he evolved into an antihero. The antihero is a character that we always loved and that we responded to. But we understand that there's been many aspects to Black Adam through him. But ultimately this is a guy who, he does have a moral compass, as skewed as it may be. And ultimately he is a guy that everything has always been driven by his family and what happens to them and he is never opposed to unleashing hell when you cross him. So, I think when you add in those elements of that DNA, those are things we're very aware of." These elements of the DC Comics character sound like they're going to make their way to the movie is Garcia has his way -- and as a producer on the film, he should certainly have his way. "Those are things that we love about him because he's complicated," Garcia explained. "He's not just justice for all. And he's not just a villain. This is a guy who's complex, who's had many things happen to him and that all shows in his actions. So this a guy who's going through a journey. He will find himself, but where it goes, you guys will have to find out. But believe me, we know as a huge fan myself, this is a guy who is complicated and vicious."

The Batman has reportedly cast its Catwoman: Big Little Lies star Zoe Kravitz. Deadline reports that Kravitz will portray Selina Kyle opposite Robert Pattinson's Dark Knight in the reboot from director Matt Reeves, which is slated for release on June 25, 2021. "I'm so proud of u zozo bear," writes the proud stepfather. Aquaman's real life stepdaughter just joined him in the DC family and he couldn't be more excited. Jason Momoa's stepdaughter Zoe Kravitz daughter of Momoa's wife Lisa Bonet and her ex Lenny Kravitz was cast as Catwoman opposite Robert Pattinson in Matt Reeves' upcoming "The Batman" on Monday and Momoa was among the many celebrating her new gig on social media. Sharing a photo of the two of them together, he captioned the photo, "I'm so proud of u zozo bear.

Kravitz's casting may come as a win for diversity in Hollywood as well, as she once recalled the time she was too "urban" for a role in 2012's "The Dark Knight Rises." "In the last Batman movie, they told me that I couldn't get an audition for a small role they were casting because they weren't 'going urban,'" she told Nylon is 2015. "It was like, 'What does that have to do with anything?' I have to play the role like, 'Yo, what's up, Batman? What's going on wit chu?'" Pre-production on "The Batman" is expected to start this summer.
